From Baltimore to Berlin

"Your psychic energy is leadership," the medium whispered from across the card table. I could faintly smell the harbor in Fell's Point. "Is it accurate to say that you're being recognized for the power behind your voice?"

Today is the first morning in several weeks that I've been able to... pause.

"Ingrid" wrapped up a week and a half ago. We ended with three sold out shows, live-streaming in France, England, Sweden, Vietnam, Singapore, and more, 20+ safe and healthy performers, and a soon-to-be 88-year-old grandmother sitting in the front row of every audience. In short, we were pleased.

Performer: Elle Hammond, Ingrid

A day later, I packed my bags and headed off for another performance of sorts- a corporate training in Baltimore. Though the back-to-back schedule looked a little aggressive on paper, I actually left the event more energized. The team was engaged, thoughtful, funny, and welcoming. If I had met them earlier in life, I might have even considered a career in accounting.

And now I'm here, sipping espresso on a balcony in Berlin, courtesy of a $100 plane ticket.

Spending time in Europe has always been important to me. Hearing the languages that were cut off in my family line... Seeing the places where I hypothetically might have lived if war hadn't torn my family apart... There's a certain type of comfort here that's hard to explain.

Business-wise, I'm using my time abroad to do what I always do: slow down and reflect. I'm now six months into self-employment and need some time and space to determine my path forward.

While I sort through the various directions my business could go next, I take comfort in at least knowing this: If there is any power behind my voice, I intend to use it to help others find theirs, as well.
