Yesterday was my birthday, and, to my surprise, I turned 37.
For about the last six months, I apparently had told everyone I was, in fact, 37 years old, so my age was a startling discovery for many involved.
It feels like a "bonus year" - an extension of a previous chapter on multiple levels.
Since starting my company, I've been diving into many different domains in the training and instructional design space, from graphic design to video editing.
All of these skills proved critical for the manager training program I've been developing. Blending self-paced training, workbook exercises, and weekly live facilitation, it offers an out-of-the-box solution for modern learners.
Behind the scenes, it's giving "final exam of a Master's degree program."
As of today, I have 115 pages of course materials created, including video scripts, live facilitation notes, and a 60+ page manager workbook packed with self-reflection, hands-on exercises, and quick reference guides.
I'm currently getting ready to shoot the self-paced training videos and have recruited my boyfriend as a co-creative director for this portion. As someone with no previous exposure to corporate training and infinite brilliance (he's the gifted producer of the multi-platinum album Montgomery Ricky), he's got an eye [and ear] for creative excellence. And, without any particular effort, he always seems to bring Gen Z along in his artistic pursuits.
As of yesterday, we officially signed our first client, who will go live in January 2025. (Such a happy birthday moment!)
It's exciting to wonder what may come of it. However, as I blew out my candle last night, I realized I legitimately only wish for gratitude for whatever I have at any given moment. Each stage of company ownership seems to have its own charm, perhaps like watching a toddler grow up. I'm grateful for the journey and thank my clients, team members, friends, and family for making this moment in time possible. ❤️
