Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself

Updated: Aug 7

Dear Readers,

It's 2024. (What!) While we've had a lot of repeat clients at JFBS lately, we've also welcomed in some new folks.

So, in the spirit of new friends and a new year, I thought I'd reintroduce myself!

💭 Who are you, and what do you do?

I really know how to kick off an interview with myself, don't I? My name is Jesse, and I'm the founder of Jesse Favre Business Solutions, LLC. We're a training and instructional design company with a passion for human behavior and mental health in the workplace.

In addition to training and curriculum development, I do a lot of public speaking on mental health and well-being for companies all over the world.

I absolutely have my dream job and pinch myself daily!

💭 Where in the world are you currently?

I'm at home in St. Louis, MO (USA). I've slowed down my travel a lot recently due to viral crud and an apartment move. I'm looking forward to some domestic travel in the near future, though!

💭 What do you do outside of work?

My favorite hobbies these days are French and dance.

I may start doing stand-up again, but I hate staying up late enough for open mics! If I had known how difficult that would become, I probably would've pushed comedy harder when I was younger.

💭 What does your go-to work playlist consist of?

One song at a time! I've been auditory stimming [playing songs on repeat to manage my sensory input] for as long as I can remember.

Two that have made the recent "repeat list" include:

  • Kerosene! -Yves Tumor

  • Quand Vas Tu Rentrer? -Melody's Echo Chamber

💭 What's your preferred coffee order?

An Americano or double espresso. No cream, no sugar.

💭 What's your favorite movie?

Harold and Maude.

"Reach out. Take a chance. Get hurt even. But play as well as you can. Go, team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room."

💭 What's your favorite place you've visited?

Every trip has been so different. I think the most peaceful place, though, was Dubrovnik, Croatia.

💭 When did you know you were neurodivergent?

When I found ChatGPT attractive? No, I don't know. I always knew I navigated the world differently than most. It wasn't until recent years that I could pinpoint why.

💭 What was your favorite project to lead?

Professionally, I really felt good about "lobbying" U.S. News and World Report to add Psych as an evaluated speciality within the Best Children's Hospital Survey. (My understanding is that change is finally coming this year!) Seattle Children's gave me such challenging and audacious projects at the beginning of my management career. I'm always grateful for that!

Personally, I loved writing and co-directing the circus show, "Ingrid." It chronicled my grandma's life coming from Germany after WWII. My co-director Kelly became one of my best friends, and my grandma was able to be in the audience to watch her own story. What an honor to co-create with those two and the whole cast and crew!

💭 What's your favorite celebration?

I had a "diagnosis reveal party" when I officially got my ADHD neuropsych results. We had a balloon drop in the style of a gender reveal, with balloons with the letters "A, "D," "H," and "D" on them. For whatever reason, it took my friends an uncomfortably long amount of time to unscramble the acronym- despite the fact that everyone already suspected I had it.

In the end, it was a very anti-climactic (and supportive) get-together. I love my friends!

💭 What do your friends wish you'd stop doing that you just won't quit?

Thanks for asking! I have no doubt they'd prefer I stop buying the largest hats I can find on vacation.

(I offer a workshop on habit change for anyone who's interested in why this is so difficult to do!)

💭 What's been the most brilliant idea of your entire life?

Well, I started only using one cup at home for coffee and tea. Prior to that, I used to leave full cups all over the place and then fret about my dishes.

I feel like I'm really onto something in 2024...
